The FlxMesh 4S (FIPS 140-2 Model)

Information Security within the Department of Defense and Federal Government has become a principle consideration and requirement for information technology products. MCW Wireless has met those high standards of encryption and security with the FlxMesh 4S (FIPS 140-2) product.  This device is compliant with the standards outlined in Federal Information Procession Standards (FIPS) publication for security and cryptographic modules.

MCW Wireless FlxMesh 4S has met the FIPS-140-2 Level 1 and Level 2 requirements outlined in the FIPS 140-2 Publication.

FIPS 140-2 Security Level  1:

Provides the lowest level of security. Basic security requirements are specified for a cryptographic module (e.g. at least one Approved Algorithm used).

MCW Wireless has a number of FIPS 140-2 compliant algorithms, including a 128bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)-based which secures the management of the module , secures packets between FlexMesh Nodes and secures keys. MCW Wireless supports the FIPS 140-2 algorithms for key generation, authentication and hashing.

FIPS 140-2 Security Level  2:

Enhances the physical security mechanisms by adding the requirement of tamper-evidence, which includes the use of tamper-evident coatings or seals. Tamper –evident coatings or seals must be placed so that coating or are seal must be broken to obtain physical access to the plaintext keys and critical security parameters within the module.

MCW Wireless FlxMesh 4 provides a physically secure enclosure with clearly marked tamper resistant tape sealed around the device, to clearly show if the device has been opened.

At a minimum role-based authentication in which a cryptographic module authenticates the authorization of an operator to assume a specific role and perform a corresponding set of service

The MCW Wireless FlxMesh 4S provides authenticated role based access with associated privileges which meets the requirements for FIPS 140-2 Level 2.

FlxMesh 4S (FIPS 140-2 Model)

This device has the same form factor and essentially the same NMS as the FlxMesh 4, which means little change and training requirements for engineers, installers and support personnel.  Aside from  the subtle changes in NMS affording FIPS- 140-2 configuration capabilities, the FlxMesh 4S can be deployed like all other FlxMesh 4 nodes.

Architectures Supported:

- Point-to-Point

- Point to Multipoint
